Workers Rising Everywhere Organising Course

Apr 13th, 2021 | By | Category: Latest

Dear colleague,

You have three weeks left to register for the Workers rising everywhere organising course with Jane McAlevey and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. Our registration form closes at 5.00pm on Monday 3 May. If your branch hasn’t started getting a group together, now is the time to do that.

We’ve arranged a short taster event for any UCU member who wants to learn more about the course before signing up. The event will take place on Tuesday 20 April from 5.00pm to 6.00pm.

Please use this form to register your interest for the taster event and please advertise the event as widely as possible to members in your branch.

The event will be chaired by Janet Farrar, UCU president elect (further education) and there will be contributions from UCU members and opportunities for Q&A.

Workers rising everywhere is the latest instalment in the Organizing for power series of courses. The previous instalment, Strike school, took place last autumn with 400 UCU members taking part out of 4,000 participants worldwide, supported by over 20 UCU staff. These courses teach you to grow your branch and get more members participating in your campaigns and collective actions. You will learn from other unions all over the world that have won massive, transformative changes for workers in the sectors they cover, from education to healthcare and beyond.

If you want to learn more I recommend reading this article by UCU member Julia Peck, which was featured on the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation website. You can also read this interview by Jane McAlevey explaining what the series is about.

If you have any questions about the taster event or about Workers rising everywhere more generally, please email us here.

In solidarity,

Jo Grady
UCU general secretary
