OU Arts Faculty members resign as external examiners

OU Arts Faculty members resign as external examiners in support of UCU pay dispute.

We the undersigned, members of the Open University’s Arts Faculty, are all willing to resign our roles as external examiners in support of the UCU pay dispute with the HE employers (https://www.ucu.org.uk/he2016).

We do not take this decision lightly, but we feel that the dispute, particularly the demands over casualization and the gender pay gap, demands collective industrial action to bring meaningful concessions from the employers.

Rather than resign with immediate effect, we are going delay action until JULY 1ST 2016, to give the negotiations between the union and management a chance to work. If they have not yet done so, we will resign on that day and begin to work out our various notice periods.
