OVERWORKED AND ISOLATED?

The link below will take you to an excellent and important feature from the Guardian that gives very worrying statistics on how work pressure fuels mental illness in academia.

We believe that the only way we will be able to change this situation is if more academics become active in the union and TAKE ACTION NOW. It is no longer the case that just being a member is enough.

If you have any questions, would like to make a comment or would be happy to participate in more union activities, please contact me on my email address (pamela.mcgibbon@stir.ac.uk) or write to our UCU Stirling Branch Secretary at ucu.secretary@stir.ac.uk.

You will see that, included in the article, is a link to a stress survey undertaken by UCU in 2013, http://www.ucu.org.uk/media/pdf/4/5/HE_stress_report_July_2013.pdf
